Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight: The Case of Waylon Jones Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide
The Case of Waylon Jones in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is Gotham's most unusual side quest — an 8-part investigation chain following Harvey Bullock and Batman across the city as they track Waylon Jones's increasingly alarming transformation into the villain the GCPD will eventually know as Killer Croc.
Each case awards 2 WayneTech Chips; completing all 8 earns the "A Scaly Menace" achievement and a Skill Brick, and the final case ends in a boss fight against Killer Croc himself.

One Case at a Time: The Sequential Unlock System
The Case of Waylon Jones uses the same one-at-a-time wave structure as the Falcone Fortune heist chain — only the current active case appears on the map, and the next case only unlocks once the current one is closed.
This means players who activate a Radio Tower in East End and find no Case of Waylon Jones icon there simply haven't completed the previous case yet.
No case is permanently missable; all 8 remain accessible throughout the campaign and post-game.
The Investigation Mechanic
Each case follows a consistent structure: find Detective Bullock, investigate three nearby evidence points using Batman's UV Vision (following glowing footprints or residue trails), interact with witnesses, and complete a Chemical Analysis mini-game that appears once a significant clue is identified.
Returning to Bullock after collecting all evidence closes the case. Cases escalate in complexity as Waylon's mutation progresses — early cases involve simple witness interviews, while later ones require Nightwing's electric gadgets for generator puzzles.
All 8 Cases: The Full Chain
- Case 1 — Gotham Village — Robinson Park, introduced during the Dynamic Duo Mission. Talk to Harvey Bullock on the steps at the northwestern side of the district. Evidence: Citizen (man near a policeman claiming to have eaten a hot dog), Hot Dog (in the underpass, UV Vision required), Fishing Pole (follow the trail). Return to Bullock to close.
- Case 2 — East End — Amusement Mile. Bullock on the raised shopping arcade east of the SubWayne Station. Speak with the woman witness, inspect the wall — it crumbles to reveal Waylon Jones mid-mutation. Short confrontation closes the case.
- Case 3 — Newtown. Bullock is on the rooftop of Gotham Square Garden below the large statue, north of the SubWayne. Drop to the large awning, speak with the cleaner, inspect the green puddle (Chemical Analysis), follow UV footprints to vent scratches on a nearby wall.
- Cases 4–6 — span additional districts as the investigation deepens. Full solutions in the guide table below once all 8 entries are added.
- Case 7 — The Cauldron South, titled "A Croc and a Hard Place." Waylon Jones is hiding in a manhole in the south of the district. Enter the nearby GCPD building through the blue door, inspect the document under the brown table, then use Nightwing's electric staff to power up the generator and connect it with the Cable Launcher — Nightwing is required for this case. Use Batman's Batclaw to remove the vent cover and connect the final power plug.
- Case 8 — Gotham Village — Robinson Park finale. Talk to Waylon Jones in the manhole near the Hippodrome. Head to the rear of the Hippodrome and inspect the claw marks on the ground to trigger a scene — then fight Killer Croc as a Brute-type enemy. Defeat him, then return to the manhole to close the final case and earn the "A Scaly Menace" achievement and Skill Brick.
